OOC: Unfortunately the description of the mind control power implies that it works only when within 12" of the target and aware of the target. If you don't now someone is there, you can't attempt to mind control them so it doesn't work as a mind detector. As a result, The Count is unable to detect any minds within the building.

Professor Mastermind, invisible to the naked eye, surveys the lobby of the tenement building. Three elevators sit against the back wall of the space. Various pieces of lounge furniture are scattered around the room, along with various detritus suggesting that many have slept rough in this space. The wall lights are dim, suggesting power operating at a low level. The level of the lights dips every few seconds. A door to the left of the elevators appear to lead to a staircase.

Quietly moving towards the entranceway to staircase, Marius will wait until the lights dip slightly before discreetly opening the door to the left of the elevators to slip through unobserved from any prying eyes.

Professor Mastermind slips into the stairwell. The stench of human waste assaults his olfactory sense like a hammer to the face. His hook nose wrinkles in disgust. The stairwell is quiet apart from the buzz of a flickering light in the stairwell space. The stairway disappears into the gloom above, seemingly spanning all thirty floors in the tenement.

OOC: Although none of you specified it, i'm assuming Red Dragon and Professor Mastermind at least have communicators. The Count is more tricky due to his penchant for turning into bats and smoke and stuff, meaning he can't really carry a communicator. On the other hand, i'll allow the Count to have limited telepathic contact with the others.

The Count flows into the ventilation shafts in his mist form. He drifts down the vent until he spots an outlet leading out into one of the buildings passageways. He can see that the passage is dimly lit, and garbage lies discarded in places. There are no signs of life. A makeshift door has been placed across one end of the passage. It is incongruous with the rest of the surroundings seeming new and recently fitted. The Count relays these impressions to the others with his mental link.

Red Dragon removes her armour, looking round the back of the van she picks up a rucksack and places the collapsed regular and hades armour within, she then heads out and to find a back way in to the building

As the Count solidifies in the hallway, his nostrils are assailed by the musty odour of neglect and human waste. The doorway blocking the far end of the hallway is in start contrast to the rest of his surroundings. The door is industrial in appearance, like some hatchway or airlock rather than a simple means of dividing one room from another. It has obviously been placed in the building after the rest of the occupants have been forced out.

Red Dragon alights from the van and jogs over to the alleyway behind the tenement. Although in darkness, she can make out the obligatory fire escape structure which remains in place on the back of the structure.
(OOC:Do you want her to jump up and grab the ladder so she can enter that way or do you want to look for another means of access?)

Suddenly the Count freezes. He is not alone in the hallway! Without turning, he detects the presence of several individuals approaching him from behind. The stench of sweat and unwashed human is too strong to ignore. Senses honed by decades of hunting prey leave him in no doubt that these humans do not mean to let him be.
Turning swiftly, he startles the group closing on him. They are all poor specimens of humanity. As far as he can see, they are all young males although this is by no means certain. They are dressed in rags mostly and carry a selection of makeshift weapons including clubs and lengths of chain.
One steps forward, presumably the leader. He grins crookedly, a mallet swaying loosley in his right hand.
"What you doin' in our res, older? These and all are our pickings and none else. Get gone unless you mean to pay the man.."
A nervous titter breaks up from others in the group, their leaders bravado giving them courage...

(OOC: The Count makes an Intimidation check at d8+2. He rolls an 8, so that's an Ace, rolls again for another 8 and finally a 2. That's 18 + 2 = 20. Regardless of their own Spirit rolls, these weak minded street trash are not able to resist this)
The gang turn as one and flee, screaming the halls down as they go. Some, if not all of them may be psychologically damaged by the terror they have just experienced. All will hide in a dark corner and whimper until the fear passes!
