ACTA:SF Miniatures
Digger came back from Dragonmeet with two squadron boxes and two mini rulebooks. I'm going to be painting the miniatures and I hope to post progress here as I go. Very first impressions of the minis are that they are VERY impressive. cast in white resin with a high level of detail. I'm tackling the Klingon's first.

So the Klingons show off their wet navy
First step in preparation. Giving the minis a bath in some tepid water with a little washing up liquid to remove oil from the resin.

Quick update for tonight. I've undercoated the two frigates this evening with black. Tomorrow night i'll start with the base hull colour.

Re: ACTA:SF Miniatures
Orks are not my thing. A few years ago, perhaps.
I'm happy with how these first three ships have turned out. They're pushing the upper limit of my skills The next three are variations on the classic D7 configuration and I hope to have them completed by the weekend. As a side note, you've actually got an extra miniature in the Klingon box set. You should have only got one frigate and you've actually got two. This means you're short a base but i'll see if I have one lying about you can have for now.
I've not painted any markings on these although I was tempted to paint on the Klingon trefoil insignia. I know there are decals on the way for this scale so i'll settle for varnishing them so decals can be add later. This is the same approach i'll take with the feds. I'm not going to try and paint on ship names and numbers at this scale when there will be official markings coming down the pipe.
A Klingon battle group skirts around the infamous kettle nebula in the kitchen worktop sector.

Re: ACTA:SF Miniatures
Just a quick update. My Federation squadron has now been completed after much gnashing of teeth. I'm happy with the results, and will post some pictures in the next day or so. Digger and I are getting together tomorrow for our first game and I hope to take some pretty pictures of all the minis then. Also look for a battle report in a couple of days.
