Battle Report - 5 Point Raid - Dilgar Vs. EA

Last night saw another clash between Steve B’s puny, running dog EA fleet against the might of Dirty Diggers Dilgar!

The 5 point raid fleets were composed of:

Stinking EA
1 x Orestes
1 x Explorer
2 x Saggi’s
8 x Tethys Laser (Nasty little turds)

Superb Dilgar
4 x Omelos
1x Ochlavita Ki
2 x Jashakar Scouts

Although there were whimpers from the EA that the table wasn’t long enough, it didn’t take long before SB was opening up with long range missiles from the Saggi’s. However this pathetic salvo was shrugged off by Digger’s Dilgar with only a few scratches to the paintwork.

First blood went to the EA though as a Jashakar Scout was dispatched by the Orestes, but then what can you expect when a Battle level ship picks on a patrol level ship that wouldn’t hurt a fly!

Revenge was swift though, when the Dilgar Pentacon outraged by the senseless attack on their scout opened up on a three Tethys who had foolishly come within range and these were dispatched like the rabid dogs they were!

At which point a most unfortunate event happened; the captain of the EA Tethys Edwina, somehow managed to sneak up on one of the Omelos. Taking it to be no more than an irritation to be ignored, the captain of the Dilgar Omelos Vicious was surprised, so say the least, when the Edwina opened up with 12 hits from its 2 AD of bore-sighted, double damage beamy goodness!

As the Vicious was reduced to a smoking ruin, the last words of the captain echoed through space:

“What the fuck was that . . . . “

Then things started to change as the Dilgar closed in on the Orestes like a pack of ravening wolves. After several salvoes of Anti-ship missiles the Orestes was reduced to zero crew and the Dilgar closed in to board. At which point, the EA; no doubt cowed by the loss of their capital ship opened a jump point and started to flee – The cringing curs!

However their last act of defiance was to attempt to destroy the Orestes by attacking the Omelos that had closed to render humanitarian aid – What foul creatures these EA are, killing their own people rather than have them see what a truly kind and considerate race the Dilgar are!

The final outcome was a medium victory (> 5 < 10) for the Dilgar – A very enjoyable game!
