Gencon UK 2009

Dear All,

It is my understanding that Gencon UK 2009 at Reading University has been cancelled due to a lack of licence and funding.

I will keep a watching brief as to what is happening and whether there will be a replacement con - So watch this space!

Yeah - I am gutted though, I was looking forward to it!

There are plenty more cons and some I imagine are cheaper (and better) than GenCon.

None that are decently close, residential like Reading!

I am off to QCon at the end of June, but I think that will be it for this year!

Are you sure it's cancelled? I can't seem to find anything on the web about it

Exactly! There is no promotion about it anywhere and if you go the Horseman Events website there is nothing there.

Alos, on some of the forums there is a general discussion about there being no Gencon and finally, I spoke to events at Reading Uni and they confirmed that it was cancelled!

I was just curious about the lack of chatter on the web. I only ran a cursory search but didn't get any obvious spikes about it. Either my search-fu is weak, or people don't seem to be bothered.

I really don't people care - It is my gut feeling that Gencon has had its day!
