Tell me of your board games
I have a couple of friends coming down in a week or two and we thought it would be cool to play a board game with them. I know Chris and Russ in particular have some cool boardgames. What do you recommend for four players? I'm excluding Ticket To Ride as we have it and have played it with them before. I'm thinking Arkham Horror, Battlestar Galactica etc.

Thanks for the reply, D. Monopoly is indeed a classic. That said i'm wanting to try something a bit more up to date.

I think it depends on how long you have available to play. Arkham Horror and Galactica are of course great fun to play but will require a good 2h30 to 3hours to play (in Arkham's case sometimes longer!).
If you fancy something light and fun, then either Kill Doctor Lucky, Jamaica or Formula D would be my recommendation.
If you enjoy games from Days of Wonder (like Ticket to Ride) and have 60-90mins to spare then I would also recommend playing 'Mystery of the Abbey' which is a cross between a Cluedo set Medieval murder mystery-meets Guess-Who style game which my cousins love playing whenever they're down to visit.

I thought the same about Galactica and Arkham Horror. Jamaica is a game i'd like to try again and i've already asked Mike for a loan of Formula D. That should keep us busy.

Castle Ravenloft: Nice co-op dungeon delving game, easy to learn and hard to win, 1 to 5 players.
Ave Caesar: Dead simple chariot racing game that combines both skill and luck, the games last 15-30 minutes and the rules can be explained in less than a minute, 1-6 players.
Cargo Noir: Trading game simple rules and plays quickly, 2 - 6 players.
Smallworld: Extremely fun and simple game of fantasy world conquest, want to play alchemist giants, or pillaging halflings? This is your game. 2 - 4 players.
Cosmic Encounter: Classic game with simple rules but every race breaks them in some way. 1 - 5 players.
Evo: Can your dinosaurs evolve prosper in an every changing world? Fun game that takes an hour or two to play 2 -4 players.
Jamaica: No she wanted to go. Fun game of pirate racing, simple rules, nice components and easy to play. 2 - 6 players.
And of course:
Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne and Flux; all modern classics.
NOTE: I think I have the number of player correct but I'm too lazy to get them off the shelves.
